#19 tamarack/eastern larch
(Larix laricina Du Roi, K. Koch)
This species can be found in every province in Canada. Eastern larch tends to reach a medium size with a slender trunk and a narrow crown. It is found most often on wet sites mixed with black spruce (Picea mariana). Larch wood can be used for any number of purposes including general construction, crates and pulpwood. It is particularly useful in areas where structures are going to come in contact with water.
